Liz Howey, Psychotherapist
Licensed Associate Counselor / LAC
Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist / LAMFT
Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy
EMDR Part II

Liz and Paul Howey joined the Capstone team in 2006 and man have they made a difference. Liz is a big-hearted and talented person who will do whatever it takes to provide residents and their families with the best experience possible. She is humble and intentional in her work. I have never seen Liz not on the go.

When I look at what I think it takes to do the quality job of being a Capstone therapist I am always hesitant to hire somebody that I didn’t help train in graduate school. But through a connection with another program I heard about Liz. I was told that she had the well-rounded talent to be a Capstone therapist and she has never disappointed me.

Being a female at an all male treatment center would seem to some as problematic, but not in the case of our females. Liz is the kind of Christian woman that shows the residents a good model of fierce femininity and contrasts much of the drug culture’s messages on women. One of the things necessary for women to do is a lot of outdoor activity from hiking to caving. Liz is very good at these activities.

I am very thankful to have Liz as a therapist and hope she stays until retirement. She connects well with her residents and families and gives them the best of herself. She moved all over the United States during her growing up years because her dad was in the military and now calls San Diego, California her parents’ home town. She enjoys tennis, reading, spending time with friends, traveling, playing with animals, working out at the gym, and spending time with her husband Paul.

Favorite Scripture: Luke 1:45, “Blessed us she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished.”
