As the founder of Capstone I want to say something personal about every single one of the staff. When I say the word “founder” I want the reader to know that Capstone exists because of God’s direction and protection. All of us who have been called to work in the Capstone ministry know the name of the real “Founder”, especially me. The first person I want to highlight is Jesus Christ and we wouldn’t be here without Him, thus the name Capstone. He has always done His job perfectly every single day and I have complete confidence that I don’t have to worry about that changing. We begin everyday going to Him on behalf of every past, present, and future resident and their family; us and our families; and every aspect of Capstone. I couldn’t be more thankful to have Him as the core of our team.
In my life professionally I have been a junior high and high school teacher/coach, a therapist, a college professor, an adventure leader, and a business owner. Privately I have been involved in parent groups, church committees, community flood relief (I was in the community), and other organizational endeavors where different groups of people were working on a common goal. Most of these groups did not come even close to reaching their goals; some were miserable failures. The coaching staff, players, and parents of players at Ouachita Christian High School in Monroe, Louisiana were the strongest, most fulfilling, and most fun synergy group that I had ever been in. But then, after the first couple of years battling through different adversities, the Capstone staff took my experience to a new height. I’ve always gotten the most excited when the group comes together and brings the best out of each other and achieves a high degree of success in the face of difficult challenges all the while experiencing a deep level of joy.
This group is the best professionally trained group of individuals that I’ve ever worked with. But as you all know, there are many well trained professionals out there who aren’t very good at their jobs and not very synergistic in their organizations. The Capstone staff below has three other attributes that separates them from the rest of the field. First, their hearts are faithfully dedicated to the Lord, their family second, and to Capstone third. Everyday I go to Capstone I am strengthened spiritually by just being around the staff members. There’s nothing religiously ‘hokie’ or ‘holier-than-thou’ about them or the Capstone atmosphere, but there is something inspiring. Second is their character. This staff knows how to make it happen. They will do whatever it takes to do it right and good and help families win. Just this week, which was a Family Week, one of our therapists, Stephanie Marlowe, stayed in therapy with one of her families until almost 1:00 am. That’s a rare occasion so why did she do it? Because it was what that resident and his family needed and, with the Lord’s help, they got several breakthroughs during that late night. Third, they are just extremely talented. There are so many professionals who are well-trained, but much fewer with solid Christian character, and a very few who have extreme talent to do what they do. I am an extremely blessed man to be able to be a part of this group. Some of our psychotherapists are in recovery and some have never struggled with alcohol and drugs, which gives the best possible combination for a therapy team.
Thanks for checking out Capstone Treatment Center. We believe that the staff is the treatment center and we want you as a parent or a professional to know who we are, what we look like, and a little bit about us so you can be confident about Capstone. Then we want you to call parents on our reference lists and ask them about us. Most of us have kids too, and Capstone is what we would want for ours. If any of you ever want to visit us in person we would welcome you so just give us a call and we’ll make arrangements.

Night Staff
The Night Staff guys are a vital group at Capstone. We used to hire part time guys to rotate in the cabins at night and while that worked pretty well for the time, it was not nearly as beneficial as six full-timers. All of these guys are strong Christian men with big hearts. All of them are married and all but one are dads. They connect very well with the residents. The night staff stays in the cabins at night, are awake all night, do bed checks every 15 minutes on the average, and then send a report to Jeremy Sciba our Personnel Director. Night Staff are trained in CPR and First Aid as well as Crisis Prevention Intervention and they rotate a day shift on two days per week Monday through Friday. The cabins are divided between residents 17 and under in one cabin and those 18 – 24 in the other cabin. During the time between going to the cabins at 9:00 pm and lights out at 10:30 there’s a lot of chance for conversation. This is a time where the night staff help the Capstone crock pot process by being solid Christian men who believe in Capstone and love being used by the Lord to help young men who are struggling.
What’s real special about two of them is that they graduated from Capstone over six years ago. Kaleb Etheridge and Trent Langhofer are two of the most important staff members to our residents because they used to be one. Kaleb and Trent both are strong Christian men, husbands, and fathers. They are absolutely outstanding in their impact with the residents. Additionally, Trent is currently going to school full time as one of my grad students in Marriage and Family Therapy. He plans on becoming a therapist and if he’s a great one, and I think he will be, I know a real good place he could work. Here’s the names of our night men and a little info on each one.
